It’s A Breeze…

Always an exciting source of talent, the upcoming Magic Millions 2YOs In Training Sale contains a host of colts by Aquis’ stallions which are sure to prove popular with discerning buyers.

Consigned through the Gippsland Bloodstock draft, one colt that has already highlighted himself is Lot 215, a son of Gr.1-producing sire Needs Further out of the unraced Bon Hoffa half-sister to the dams of Listed winner Galvanized and the Gr.2 winner La Bella Dame, who is in turn the dam of stakes winners Damselfy and Le Bonsir.

Breezing up in a solid time of 10.66 on October 9 at Seymour, the colt then had a jump out at Pakenham on October 14 (below), and it appeared he was simply too fast for the cameraman, who didn’t appear to notice him all the way in front.

Another to have their breeze up at Seymour was the Nolen Racing-consigned Lot 42, a bay colt from the first crop of Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet.

Out of the four-time-winning Holy Roman Emperor mare Richenza, a half-sister to the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap winner La Montagna and to the dam of Gr.3 Red Anchor Stakes winner Eptimum, the colt is one of three catalogued by Divine Prophet in the sale.

With his first crop building momentum, Divine Prophet has already been represented by some very nice trial performers including the Team Rogerson’s Te Poropiti in New Zealand, as well as Encyclopedia, Mystic Aroma and Ezekeil.

Clare Park Thoroughbreds will consign the remaining two Divine Prophet colts in the sale with Lot 61 being out of a Pins half-sister to stakes winner Kekiva and Rapid Kay, while Lot 163 is out of a half-sister to More Than Ready’s stakes performer Delusion

With the final sets of breeze ups set to be conducted at the Gold Coast Turf Club on November 6 and 10, this is a sale not to be missed, with previous graduates including last season’s Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap winner Tyzone, as well as carnival stakes winners Victorem, The Candy Man and Krone, while the Singapore Derby was taken out by Top Knight, another graduate of the sale.

Further Success

Three recent, and exciting winners for Encosta de Lago’s Gr.1-producing son Needs Further continues to highlight his outstanding winner to runner ratio, a figure that places him up with those inside the top ten on the Australian General Sires’ Table.

The Dale Short-trained Far Enough commenced Needs Further’s sequence of wins, recording an impressive debut victory over 1000m at Bendigo.

Starting the race favourite off the back of a pleasing barrier trial effort, jockey Damien Oliver allowed the 3yo gelding to find his feet early, before challenge on the home turn, and although it took a while to get the upper hand, the race experience gained from the win will aid in the mental and physical improvement of Far Enough.

Two days later, the well-bred Emerald Crown, a full-sister to Gr.1 Australian Guineas winner Mystic Journey recorded her second victory from her last three starts with a dominant display over 1400m at Ballarat.

Starting the race favourite in the eight horse field, the Nigel Blackiston-trained mare asserted her authority in the run home to win, eased down, by just over a length with Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michael Rodd in the saddle.

The very next day saw Orange Roughie improve off a two length win over 1350m at Devonport, to record back to back wins, scorching away from the field for a super impressive eight length win over 1420m at Launceston.

Standing for $13,750 (inc. GST) this season at Aquis Seymour, one of the many exciting factors for Needs Further’s popularity is that the success he is currently experiencing on the track is from the earlier, smaller books of mares he covered, and off the back of their success, he has since covered larger books of high quality mares.

An Invincible Sireline

With the 2020 covering season in full swing, Aquis Seymour’s new stallion Royal Meeting (IRE), the impressivel looking son son of Invincible Spirit has taken to the new phase of his life in sensational fashion.

The success of I Am Invincible locally, and Kingman internationally, to name a few, places a high level of demand on Invincible Spirit sire-line stallions, and in Royal Meeting, we have an outstanding, high-quality racehorse with all the pedigree attributes to prove successful at stud.

With no other son of Invincible Spirit, standing at stud in Australia, or the world, able to lay claim to being the ONLY Gr.1-winning, unbeaten 2YO, the sireline continues to flourish – being the very same line that saw Shaquero; the first Australian runner for his sire Shalaa, dominate his rivals to win the Gr.3 ATC Breeders’ Plate on debut recently.

The presence of Invincible Spirit’s sons at stud have grown significantly in recent years due to their outstanding success, with those sons producing over 150 stakes winners highlighted by 17 individual Gr.1 winners, nine of which were achieved in Australasia alone.

Outside of Champion Sire in waiting I Am Invincible, who is currently sitting in second on the Australian General Sires’ Table, European based Kingman is another exciting son on the rise with recent success, focusing further attention back on Royal Meeting.

Royal Meeting’s Gr.1 Criterium International (1400m) winning performance where he quickened with ease to defeat the Aidan O’Brien-trained Galileo filly Hermosa, who would later go on to highlight her ability and record success in the Gr.1 One Thousand Guineas and Gr.1 Irish One Thousand Guineas, showed the devastating turn of foot the former Godolphin-trained colt possessed.

Standing at an exceptional value fee  $11,000 (inc. GST), the Aquis Sales Team can be contacted HERE to book in your nomination or to discuss your 2020 mating plans.

Champion 2YO Honour For Farnan

Off the back of a sensational campaign that saw Farnan record five wins, four at black type level, highlighted by a dominate display in the G1 Golden Slipper, the outstanding colt has been awarded the Champion 2YO for the 2019/2020 season at the Australian Racehorse of the Year Awards on Monday night.

“This is what dreams are made of and it’s great to share it with such great people,” stated Aquis Managing Director Shane McGrath.

Successful over 1000m last November on debut at Canberra, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt then captured the Restricted Listed Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic.

During the autumn, the colt kicked off his campaign with facile victory in the Gr.2 Silver Slipper Stakes, following that up with Gr.2 Todman Stakes success, before his almost two length win in the Gr.1 Golden Slipper, defeating the Mrs Fung part-owned Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game, the highest rated filly of her generation at 2.

Ridden to success in the Slipper by jockey High Bowman, his praise of the colt clearly highlighted his lofty opinion.

“I haven’t ridden a better two-year-old. Just his mannerisms and his professionalism, that is one thing, but his ability is another.”

Bred, and raced in partnership during his juvenile campaign with Phoenix Thoroughbreds, the Not A Single Doubt colt’s juvenile Timeform Rating of 122 saw him the equal second highest rated 2yo from the past eight racing seasons.

Another great result for partners Phoenix Thoroughbreds, saw their recently retired Loving Gaby awarded the Champion 3YO Filly for the season, and with the mare one a stellar line up covered by Pierata so far this season, it was a sensational result for all concerned.

Kia Ora Stud have since purchased the majority share in Farnan, with the colt being aimed at the 2020 The TAB Everest on October 17, where he will race in the Aquis slot.

What Machines These Foals Are!

As the only dual group-winning son of Champion First and Second Season sire Zoustar, Lean Mean Machine’s Group 2 victories at two and three highlighted his sensational racetrack ability, while his third in the stallion-making Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, further emphasised his elite level talent.

The epitome of what breeders look for when selecting a stallion, Lean Mean Machine is a stunning physical specimen. His first three dams are all juvenile winners, his own dam She’s Meaner being a Listed winner at two, and a narrow runner-up in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic of her year, highlighting the juvenile class of the family.

Supported by many of Australia’s leading breeders in his first season including Glastonbury Farms, Makybe Racing and Breeding, Seymour Bloodstock, Swettenham Stud and Yulong Investment to name a few, the first foals of those mating’s are arriving this season to glowing reports, all noting their outstanding quality and substance.

Standing at Aquis Seymour at a fee of $13,200 (inc. GST), Lean Mean Machine has been represented Australia wide by his first crop foals with many outstanding specimens already foaled so far this season.

Ponderosa Park’s Paul Kelly is one judge who has been suitably impressed by his Lean Mean Machine foals.

“I have had three Lean Mean Machine foals so far this season and they are magnificent. He has stamped his stock and he can throw a type. As good as any other foals on my farm!”

While Andrew Braddock of Gooree Park highlighted the Nashville Skyline filly as similar to her sire.

“The Lean Mean Machine x Nashville Skyline is a very athletic filly just like her father! Very correct and extremely active!”

It is just not the physical that is impressing breeders, but the quality of the mares he also covered in his first book.

Foaled at Aquis Canungra was the second foal of Fast Hussy, herself a half-sister to five-time Gr.1-winning, Champion Sprinter Santa Ana Lane.

Ellora Stud welcomed a colt out of See It My Way who is from the family of Gr.1 Golden Slipper winner Burst and South Africa’s Gr.1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Vernichey.

While Glastonbury Farms foaled down a colt out of the well-related Kulgrinda, a three-quarter-sister to Headwater, from the family of Gr.1 winners Crown Prosecutor and River Dove.
