Jonker joins Aquis Farm roster

From Group 1 winner Jonker has been retired to stand at Queensland’s Aquis Farm this spring, it was announced on Monday.

A Stakes-winning two-year-old who trained on to win the G1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) and $1 million Magic Millions Sprint (1200m) as an older horse for Tony Gollan, connections made the call to retire the six-year-old following an autumn campaign in Melbourne.

From Aquis Farm will centralise its stallion roster to Queensland, with president Justin Fung reassuring the industry the operation is here to stay.

The 15-stallion roster, featuring the likes of Pierata and Spieth, will be based at Canungra, ending the breeding operation’s interstate experiment which saw bases in New South Wales and Victoria.
